One of the reasons I’m enjoying this Great Loop boating lifestyle is the daily planning. Each day you have to determine how far you want to travel, where you want to dock and whether the weather gods are going to cooperate. I have been having great luck with Marinas until Conneaut. The Port Authority had me tying up on a scary concrete wall, with no power and no water and exposed to the lake. Although it was a Saturday night and I was done boating for the day I said, “This isn’t going to work for me”. The only other Marina is the Conneaut Boat Club with exactly one transients slip – I got it!!! And they have $2 beers, I needed one. It’s first come, first served so I was extraordinarily lucky.
Also have to report the first mechanical concern. The volt meter gage is showing too high. According to Google this could be a voltage regulator starting to fail. Let’s hope I can make Erie without incident. More on this later, don’t worry, I’ll be fine.
