There’s nothing so iconic as a visit to Mont St Michel in France. From a distance it makes an impression as it rises out of the water during low tide. I think my last visit was 30+ years ago and my memory was sketchy. It’s quite different from the past visit, as this time, we shared the narrow streets with the visiting hordes.
We started the visit in Normandy and visited the American Cemetery and Omaha Beach. It is always awe inspiring as you stand where our troops stood and think about wave after wave of young soldiers in the D-Day invasion. After my 35 years of working in the logistics field, the magnitude of the invasion is still impressive today. We also visited the Bayeux Tapestry that makes my cross stitch efforts look pretty lame.

This 15th century Chateau was pretty unique during WW II as the French Resistance used it to shuttle people to the free zone.

Our next stop is Provence and the lavender fields are blooming. We’re staying at a Villa courtesy of my friends the Poweski’s and 11 of their family and friends. I expect mornings will be filled with markets, lovely lunches in the countryside and perhaps a bit of the excellent wine. Next installment from Provence.
Wonderful pics as usual Barb. Have an awesome time!
